The Majlis al-Iftā’ is a gathering that takes place bi-monthly at the Muslim Judicial Council’s premises in Athlone. The Majlis comprises the members of the Fatwa Department as well as four affiliate members.
The Aim of Majlis al-Iftā'
The current Mufti established the Majlis al-Iftā’ with the aim of ensuring that all questions received by the department are thoroughly discussed and debated before a fatwa is issued.
A fatwa is a legal verdict that the Mufti signs off on behalf of Allah, and the deliberations of the Majlis al-Iftā’ aim to present the most accurate answers and representations of the Law of Allah.
