- Performing multiple Jumu’ahs in the same venue is an unprecedented practice within our fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and was not specifically addressed by our jurists. The probable reason for this is that when Muslim communities grew and the Jāmi’ or Jumu’ah Masjid became too small, a second Jumu’ah would typically be established in another existing Masjid.
- However, it is evident that the underlying condition for the existence of additional Jumu’ahs within a community is the presence of a genuine need (ḥājah). Jurists permitted additional Jumu’ahs where there was a need, and they considered additional Jumu’ahs invalid where no such need existed.
- In the situation you described, there is a clear need for an additional Jumu’ah. Furthermore, since there is no alternative venue available for the Jumu’ah to take place, there is no indication within our fiqh that hosting a second Jumu’ah in the same facility would be invalid. Therefore, it is our view that hosting a second Jumu’ah in the same facility would be permissible.

- Finally, we advise the following:
5.1 The Muslim administration of the Muṣallā should strive to expand the facility. This would be preferable in the spirit of unity and gathering, which are among the objectives of Jumu’ah.
5.2 If expanding the current Muṣallā is not possible, consider creating a second facility where the second Jumu’ah can take place. The benefit of this approach is that both Jumu’ahs will be performed during the most virtuous time, awwal al-waqt.
5.3 While working towards expanding the current Muṣallā or establishing a second Muṣallā, it is permissible and valid to hold a second Jumu’ah in the same venue, as stated in point three.

والْحَاصِلُ مِنْ كَلاَمِ اْلأَئِمَّةِ: أَنَّ أَسْبَابَ جَوَازِ تَعَدُّدِهَا ثَلاَثَةٌ ضَيْقُ مَحَلِّ الصَّلاَةِ بِحَيْثُ لاَ يَسَعُ الْمُجْتَمِعِيْنَ لَهَا غَالِباً وَالْقِتَالُ بَيْنَ الْفِئَتَيْنَ بِشَرْطِهِ وَبعْد أَطْرَافِ الْبَلَدِ بِأَنْ كَانَ بِمَحَلٍّ لاَ يُسْمَعُ مِنْهُ اَلنِّدَاءُ أَوْ بِمَحَلٍّ لَوْ خَرَجَ مِنْهُ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ لَمْ يُدْرِكْهَا إِذْ لاَ يَلْزَمُهُ اَلسَّعْيُ إِلَيْهَا إِلاَّ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ اهـ.
وَخَالَفَهُ ((ي)) فَقَالَ: (يَجُوْزُ بَلْ يَجِبُ تَعَدُّدُ الْجُمُعَةِ حِيْنَئِذٍ لِلْخَوْفِ الْمَذْكُوْرِ ِلاَنَّ لَفْظَ التَّقَاتُلِ نَصَّ فِيْهِ بِخُصُوْصِهِ وَلأَنَّ الْخَوْفَ دَاخِلٌ تَحْتَ قَوْلِهِمْ إِلاَّ لِعُسْرِ اْلاجْتِمَاعِ فَالْعُسْرُ عَامٌ لِكُلِّ عُسْرٍ نَشَأَ عَنِ الْمَحَلِّ أَوْ خَارِجِهُ وَانْحِصَارُ التَّعَدُّدِ فِي الثَّلاَثِ الصُّوَرِ اَلَّتِي اسْتَدَلَّ بِهَا اَلْمُجِيْبُ اَلْمُتَقَدِّمُ لَيْسَ حَقِيْقَةً إِذْ لَمْ يُحْصَرِ الْعُذْرُ فِي التُّحْفَةِ وَالنِّهَايَةِ وَغَيْرِهِمَا بَلْ ضَبَطُوْهُ بِالْمَشَقَّةِ وَهَذَا الْحَصْرُ إِمَّا مِنَ الْحَصْرِ الْمَجَازِيِّ لاَ الْحَقِيْقِيِّ إِذْ هُوَ اَلأَكْثَرُ فِي كَلاَمِهِمْ أَوْ مِنْ بَابِ حَصْرِ اْلأَمْثِلَةِ فَالضَّيْقُ لِكُلِّ عُسْرٍ نَشَأَ عَنِ الْمَحَلِّ وَالْبُعْدِ وَلِكُلّ عُسْرٍ نَشَأَ عَنِ الطَّرِيْقِ وَالتَّقَاتُلِ وَلِغَيْرِهِمَا كَالْخَوْفِ عَلَى النَّفْسِ وَالْمَالِ وَالْحَرِّ اَلشَّدِيْدِ وَالْعَدَاوَةِ وَنَحْوِهَا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا فِيْهِ مَشَقَّةٌ)

من المقرر: أنه لا يجوز تعدّد الجمعة حيث أمكن إقامتها في موضع واحد من البلد، قال في التحفة: (ولو غير مسجد، فإن عسر اجتماعهم .. جاز التعدد) خلافاً لقول التقي السبكي: إنه لا يجوز التعدد وإن عسر وعظمت المشقة والضرر. وزعم أنه قول أكثر العلماء ؛ فإنه ضعيف غير لائق بمحاسن الشريعة قال في (التحفة): (والذي يتجه: اعتبار من يغلب فعلهم لها عادة ، وأن ضابط العسر أن تكون فيه مشقة لا تحتمل عادة) ونحوه في النهاية والإقناع انتهى
قال شيخنا: ويؤخذ من قوله: (بلا مشقة) أنه إذا تأذى من يحضر الجمعة بصلاته في موضع قريب من المسجد ، وناله حرّ الشمس . أنه يكون من العسر المرخص في التعدد ، وكذا إذا كان يحتاج إلى أن يصلّي في الطرق والأسواق المحيطة بالمسجد، لأنه يلحقه بذلك مشقة، سيما ذوي الهيئات كما يتفق للمصلين بجامع الحديدة، لا يقال: إنهم مقصرون في تأخیر خروجهم للجمعة، لأنا نقول : إن التأخير قد يتفق لعارض ، وقد علم أن جامعها لا يسع المصلين، فوقوفهم في الشوارع في الحرّ والمطر فيه مشقة شديدة
